US Marshall Jinx Collins is an outspoken, free-spirited, and fearless woman. It’s that same fearlessness, however, that tends to get her into trouble. Jinx questions her life prior to being adopted. When those questions lead her to a murderer who’s about to be transported into the witness protection program, Jinx decides to kidnap him to see if she can uncover the truth. Jed Kane has worked undercover in the human trafficking ring for years. When Jed accepts a job to disguise himself as one of his worst enemies and take a ride from the correctional facility to a secured location, he certainly had not planned on being abducted by Jinx Collins. Jed’s uncertain as to how he feels about her touchy-feely hands and loose lips—unsure if they irritate him or if they are awakening his badly behaving desires. Jed knows he must first find out what the fanatical little lady wants with a murderer before he can act on whatever he’s feeling.

Straight away Jinx is attracted to the resilient and enticing Jed Kane—the only man who hasn’t backed down from her candor. While Jinx discovers that the questionable criminal may be able to assist her in finding out the truth about her past, Jed vows to save Jinx from her daring self. Once Jinx starts to understand what Jed feels for her—he wants to own her—she demands that he succumb to the raging frenzy. Jed allows himself to seduce her body, submitting himself to that dominant need. But haunted by a world of unlawful ownership, Jed forbids his cold heart to stake its dangerous claim on Jinx Collins.

Locked away in a dark basement, a little boy is waiting to be rescued—and Jinx’s past holds the key to his prison. If Jinx can finally find the truth which holds her fears, and if Jed can forgive himself for his past, then not only might they be able to save the boy, but they might also discover that their carnal desires really derive from their own prison… an inescapable prison of love.

Review:

U.S. Marshall Jinx was searching for a woman she had only seen in a picture. Jinx is certain that finding the woman in the picture could reveal parts of her past she seemed to have forgotten. And she would literally do everything to find her, which brought her into a lot of  dangerous situations throughout the story.

Her search lead her to Aztec, a criminal who kidnapped and sold children. He was finally caught but needed to be transferred. Jinx saw her chance to question him and formed a plan to kidnap him. And what do you know, her plan actually worked and she got Aztec. Only he wasn’t Aztec the man she kidnapped turned out to be Jed Kane, who was working undercover to lure out Aztec’s boss. Jed was both furious and curious when he found himself kidnapped. Somehow he knew that Jinx wasn’t the mastermind behind Aztec’s business, so who was she and what did this woman plan to do with Aztec. But Jinx won’t answer his questions and ran. Something not many people could.  But it doesn’t stay with this one meeting, they kept bumping into each other and Jed turned out to be quite the hero. Saving Jinx’s butt from various dangerous situations. But who’s going to save him when he starts developing feelings for Jinx. She on the other hand tries her hardest to get him to succumb to the obvious and intense attraction they both feel towards each other.  Which proves to be an almost impossible task, Jed’s past and actions has his thinking he’s a horrible man who’s not worthy or capable to feelings like love or happiness. Besides what the Jed wants only comes second to his job. And his current case is close to being solved, he can’t afford to think about himself right now. And neither does Jinx.

“The Forbidden Claim” was such an addictive read, once started I couldn’t put it down. I just had to keep reading.  But at the same time I wanted to prolong the reading, for it to last longer.  The story and the mystery that needed to be solved was so interesting. And the  attraction between Jinx and Jed  was undeniable but still they kept resisting the pull and that made me anticipating the moment they finally caved. Plus it lead to amazingly sexy and sensual scenes. I loved the mysterious air that surrounded the story from Jinx’s search to finding the woman in the picture to the case Jed was working on. But more importantly the mystery surrounding Jed and Jinx themselves.

The pain and hurt Jed felt, the story that was told from the little boys perspective it  was all so beautifully written, my heart broke several times for them. I just wanted to give them a big hug, anything to ease some of the pain.”The Forbidden Claim” Is a very emotional, sad, mysterious and shocking read. That had a little bit of humor in it too and some very sensual and sexy scenes. The journey the story took me on was very exciting and suspenseful. I loved it and can’t wait to read more from Ms. Gendron. I most certainly would recommend reading The Forbidden Claim, it won’t leave you disappointed.
