A Circle of Ashes is the second book in the Balefire series by Cate Tiernan.
This story is the continuation of the tale of Clio and Thais, identical twins who were separated at birth and reunited at the age of 16 when their father dies and Thais returned to New Orleans due to the machinations of one of the members of her family’s coven.
In this volume Thais and Clio try to perform magic, to disastrous effects, but eventually they discover that Thais’ element is not the same as Clio’s. Tiernan also continues the scheming of Daedalus, who in my opinion is an ass and needs to take the long sleep he has avoided for all these years.
My favorite character in A Chalice Of Wind is actually Ouida. She is kind and caring and wants nothing more than to live a peaceful life away from all of the chaos her coven creates.
Once again Cate Tiernan has created a great story with wonderful characters. I love them all, well most of them, the tourtured souls and powerful magic blend with great characters that make a story that is very hard to put down.
A Circle of Ashes is definitely one You Need To Read.
