As a romance writer, it’s easy to get bored (for me anyway) with writing sex scenes. There’s only so much I’m willing to have my characters do. I’m just plain not into butt sex, dildos, and a lot of other things done in the leading erotic stories today. I don’t mind others writing it or doing it or reading it, but when I sit down to write sex, I like to write my own fantasies and having something shoved up my ass isn’t on that list.
So when the opportunity and idea rose with my friend and editor, D.F. Krieger to pen a f/f novella, I was so on board. 1. New experience. 2. I can’t think of a better writing partner. She knows what’s doing; she’s funny; she writes great sex. 3. There were so many fun things I could do with f/f sex. The ideas were endless. My inhibitions disappeared.
And I had so much fun writing this book, I laughed so hard, I just loved it…boredom went right out the window. There wasn’t a single dull moment when penning this book. Matter of fact, I penned two more f/f pieces right after this one. Do I still write m/f sex? Yes, but when I get that “I’m so bored with this part A goes into part B thing,” I write another f/f.
With today’s market being all about sex, it’s common worry for a writer that what they’re writing has been done countless times already…and it usually has. And so, this is how I jump over that “sex is boring” slump.
